How to be a successful English Teacher

Last class, Mr.M came to our class. He is a junior high school teacher in Morioka. He talked us about teacher's job at a junior high school.

He said that "Teacher's job is changing students". When I heared it, I remembered "Ohmura Hama". She is a Japanese teacher. she is asked that "Why do you teach?" And she said that "When childen grow up adults, they can live in a happy life alone by teaching." So I think teachers change students in class every day and, students acquire the ability of happiness.

And, why do we learn English? Because English is the most popular communication tool all over the world. We meet many foreigners in Japan, and we communicate each other with language. But in Japan students learn the way of input, such as reading. I remember it is bored. It can not communicate each other. So my weak point are listening and speaking. I don`t tell my mind in English very well. And, I think a good English teacher is speaking and writing between teacher and students, students and students. That is to say, they can teach the way of output. I think it is a language.

Reflection of Microteaching: Vocabulary Teaching

First of all, I forgot writing my blog. I apologize to everyone for disturbing. I am sorry. And, Thank you for taking our class. I think it is unheard and annoying for everyone. But, I had a good experience. I am grateful to everyone and Mr. Hall. Thank you very much.

1.What we did in our lesson
I am ALT and, Keiko is JLT. You will understand it to see Keichan`s blog.

2.What our students did during our lesson

3.The strenghts and weaknesses of our lesson
◇The strength
・ Students would active by the play. And, they would want to know the meanings of new words.
・ Students would memorize new words. Because we say new words many times in the play.

◇The weakness
・ It is monotonous on Present and Learn Approach section. Because it didn`t comunicate with each student.
・ Some of students would dislike English. Because they don`t know the meanings.

Finally, I thank Keiko heartily. Because she write the play and make the practice class. She never compromise and considered the enjyoable class. She does her best. I fellow her thought. I can`t head up to her. So she is a good partner and will be a good English teacher. Thank you very much. I had a enjoyble time with you.

Approaches for teaching vocabulary

Today we learned about two approaches for teaching vocabulary: the present and learn and the Learning through Input Approach. You can see a PowerPoint presentation of the approaches here. I would like to tell you about the strengths and weaknesses of each approach as well as the approach I would use as a Junior High School English teacher.



First, I will talk about the strengths and weaknesses of the Teaching and Learn Approach.
■Strengths
・ It is intelligible because it uses cards or charts.
■Weaknesses
・ It is passive.



Second, I will talk about the strengths and weaknesses of the Learning through Input Approach.
■Strengths
・It is easy to memorize.

■Weaknesses
・Some students understand many vocabulary, but the others can nat understand.

Lastly I would use both of these two methods for teaching vocabulary. Because it compensate each demerit with each merit.

Golden Week was Soccer Week.

I belong to soccer club. I had practice match every day. So I was tired,and I only went to bed. But Monday is pradtice day off. So I go to have a drink, heal my body ,and bond with my soccer friend.
Practice starts from Tuesday. Do my best because I love soccer.
